Three Standout Underwater Hockey Events - Spring 2026

For UWH players in the UK, there are countless events, tournaments and even local leagues to get involved with. It's a brilliant way for new players to develop their skills, or help experienced athletes to reach even greater heights with their teams. Whatever your age or skill level, there will certainly be a game for you to get stuck in with.

With that in mind, let's take a look at some of the lesser-known competitions coming up in 2026…

1. Suffolk Mixed Selection Tournament - 21st February

Today, an increasing number of tournaments are mixed, with teams drawn from a hat to enable new players to get involved with games all through the day. In an exciting opportunity, Suffolk is hosting a new tournament of this sort, with players self-rated on skill level to make balanced teams for all involved. It should be a brilliant way to meet new people, challenge your UWH skills and get ready for the upcoming season. Club owners - this is a chance to get your competitive season off to an explosive start!

2. West London Star Wars 4X4 Mix and Match - 21st March

In a divergence from typical UWH matches, West London are offering a rapid-pace 4x4 tournament for all skill levels, with a Star Wars theme! 4 versus 4 matches offer a relentless pace, rewarding raw speed and tight coordination. For newer players, it’s a way to get more matches in over the course of the day, and for experienced UWH athletes it’s a welcome challenge that distinguishes itself from your typical training. Plus, there’s a trip to the pub after to enjoy if you choose, what’s not to like?

3. Oxford University Winter Tournament - 22nd March

While lesser known, Oxford University has been quietly leading the field in student competitions in the past few years, landing on the podium consistently against some heavy-hitting teams. Since 2023 they have hosted a yearly Winter Tournament, specifically aimed at novices and new student teams as an introduction to competitive 'push. This year, they are kindly offering free entry, making it easier than ever for players to get involved. Their only request is for you to bring your own equipment if possible, to help ease strain on their own supplies. Individuals, teams, everyone is welcome. Why not?
